The Pole Room NZ is proud to present Wildfire Amateur Pole Competition 2025, Saturday 12th July, Wellington, New Zealand
Wellington's new Amateur Pole Competition features polers from all backgrounds
Wildfire Amateur Pole Competition is a fun, inclusive show that draws upon the incredible pole dance talent found throughout New Zealand. We are looking for entertaining performers to get up on stage and show us their skills. We endeavour to offer something a bit different from other pole competitions run in New Zealand. Think of Wildfire as the little sister to our fabulous long-running competition Inferno!
We will include as many dancers from varied backgrounds and different levels as we can. Emphasis will be placed on new performers and relatively inexperienced performers. If you have performed in student showcases or NZAPP this is the competition for you. It is also suitable for first-time performers.
Pole fitness students, pole dance teachers, exotic dancers and new performers are all welcome to enter. We welcome all genders.
Wildfire 2025 will be held at Te Auaha in Wellington, a beautiful dance theatre in the centre of town.
The poles are two X-stages, one set to static and one to spin.

Category Details
Pole Open (2 themed categories)
Suitable for intermediate and advanced polers, all tricks allowed.
No Inverts (1 themed category)
Suitable for people who prefer dancing without inverts.
Doubles & Group Pole (Choose from the 3 themes)
Suitable for all pole dancers. All tricks allowed. NZ's first group pole division gives groups the opportunity to compete in their own category. Groups are 2-10 people.
Our main focus is amateur pole dancers. If you have performed in a student showcase or NZAPP, this competition is perfect for you. First time performers are welcome, but make sure to show us in your entry video that you have what it takes! We are looking for unique and entertaining ideas and variety in our acts.
Our definition of “Amateur”: You have been pole dancing for any amount of time, but you have not recently performed beyond student-level and equivalent showcases. You can be any level from beginner through to super-advanced. Instructors can also enter. We run a stripper-friendly competition and you can enter any category.
Experienced pole dancers and instructors who don't wish to enter an "amateur" competition are VERY welcome to enter the group category. The group category is open to everyone from all levels. We are really excited to see what people come up with in this category!
Wildfire is first and foremost an entertaining event for the audience. We want to make the show super-fun to watch. Keep this in mind when you apply – Unique, creative and quirky ideas will be favoured.
