Wildfire Amateur Pole Competition is a fun, inclusive show that draws upon the incredible pole dance talent found throughout New Zealand. We endeavour to offer something a bit different from other pole competitions run in New Zealand.
Pole fitness students, pole dance teachers, club dancers and new performers are all welcome to enter. We welcome all genders.
Wildfire 2026 will be held at Hannah Playhouse in Wellington, a beautiful dance theatre in the centre of town.
The Wildfire stage is spacious and suitable for groups and floorwork. The two poles are X-Stages, one set to static and one set to spin. Exact stage details will be confirmed with the performers closer to the date.

Video of you dancing. About 2 minutes. A performance is best, but dancing in the studio/club is also ok. A YouTube or Vimeo link is preferred, but a Google Drive/Dropbox link is also ok. Please make sure the video has been filmed in the last year.

If you are entering doubles, you can send two separate videos if you want. If you are entering as a group of 3 or more, you don’t need to submit a video.

Entry fee: There is a non-refundable entry fee of $35 per Solo entry, $40 Doubles entry, $60 Group entry. We will supply bank acc details via email.

Pole Open (suitable for intermediate and advanced polers, all tricks allowed). Theme: 'Good vs Evil'

No Inverts (suitable for beginners and people who prefer dancing without inverts). Theme: 'Favourite Fictional Characters'

Over 35 (suitable for any level, age over 35) Choose from the 3 themes

Doubles & Group Pole (suitable for all levels, groups from 2-10). Choose from the 3 themes
People who can enter: Anyone! You have been pole dancing for any amount of time. You can be any level from beginner through to super-advanced. Instructors can also enter. We run a stripper-friendly competition and you can enter any category. We welcome all genders in our shows.
First time performers are welcome, but make sure to show us in your entry video that you have what it takes! We are looking for unique and entertaining ideas and variety in our acts, not necessarily the most advanced polers.
Our definition of 'No Inverts' - It's pretty loose really! If you prefer to dance without going upside down this is the category for you. It doesn't necessarily mean beginner, although beginners are very welcome. You can do all spins, all upright pole tricks, all floor work and basic handstands and headstands. We will not be too rigid with enforcing the rules.
Over 35
If you are over 35 on the day of the competition you might like to enter this category. We love supporting more mature dancers in their own space. Please note that you are welcome to enter the other categories if you would rather. (The other categories are open to anyone over 18.)
Doubles & Group Pole
Suitable for all pole dancers. All tricks allowed. NZ's first group pole division gives groups the opportunity to compete in their own category. Groups are 2-10 people.
The group category is open to everyone from all levels. We are really excited to see what people come up with in this category!
Wildfire is first and foremost an entertaining show for the audience. We want to make the show super-fun to watch. Keep this in mind when you apply – Unique, creative and quirky ideas will be favoured.
